E-Spatz
A battery-electric work vessel for the waterways administration — emission-free in demanding everyday duty.
The E-Spatz is a fully electric work vessel, delivered in 2022 as hull number 238 to the waterways and shipping administration and in service on the canals near Mülheim an der Ruhr. On AIS she can be found under the name “Mülheim”.
Its battery propulsion shows that emission-free operation also works where there is work to be done every day: no diesel smell, no vibration, predictable energy costs — and charging takes place ashore during lay time.
Together with the solar-powered J. Hobrecht, the E-Spatz stands for a new generation of electric government vessels from Derben.
